Swanson Reed: Registered Tax Agent obligations and keeping clients informed

SR Tax Services Pty Ltd (trading as Swanson Reed) is a registered tax agent (Registration number 03718008).

The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) is the authority responsible for regulating Australia’s tax agents.

The Government package of reforms to strengthen the integrity of Australia’s tax system has presented additional compliance and disclosure requirements for tax agents which apply to Swanson Reed from July 2025.

As part of these reforms, Swanson Reed has an obligation to keep parties informed on a range of matters.

As part of our compliance with these requirements, we wish to advise all current and prospective clients:

• The Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) maintains a register of tax agents which can be searched by the public. The register also includes details of any conditions imposed on an agent’s registration.  A link to the TPB register is here:

• Swanson Reed takes pride in providing quality services and being an upstanding, professional tax agent. Should you wish to make a complaint about Swanson Reed, this will be taken seriously and can be made:
  • using the contact details of our website; or
  • by raising directly with your Swanson Reed engagement contact;
• Registered Tax Agent are required to disclose and provide details certain events prescribed under s45(1)(d) of the Tax Agent Services (Code of Professional Conduct) Determination 2024 that have occurred involving the agent. As of June 2025, Swanson Reed are not aware of any such events within the determination that are relevant our firm. If a prescribed event occurs moving forward, we are required to disclose the matter within 30 days of the event;
• The TPB has published a fact sheet which includes details on client rights and the process for making a complaint to the TPB. This information is available here:
