With troubled commodity prices, higher employment costs and a diminishing manufacturing sector, Australia’s immediate future doesn’t look bright. Unlike the United Kingdom, the United States and most of the developed world, Australia has no current innovation strategy or policy. 2014 Budget Update: Minor Reduction in R&D Tax Offset – Grant Funding Abolished

Announced in the recent Federal Budget was the Government’s plan to raise over $1 Billion by cutting funding to the R&D Tax Incentive and a range of grants. R&D Tax Incentive Advisory Committee revoked

On 24 March 2014 the Minister for Industry, Ian Macfarlane announced that effective from 31 March 2014 the R&D Tax Incentive Advisory Committee of Innovation Australia would be revoked, pursuant to subsection 22(1) of the Industry Research and Development Act 1986 (IR&D Act).
